Trump suggests that Ukraine and Russia could conclude a peace agreement, Skip Ceasefire Agreement

President Donald Trump is ready to go beyond a ceasefire and directly conclude a peace agreement between Russia and Ukraine.
After his top at high challenges with Russian President Vladimir Putin and before his meeting with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy, Trump announced his intention to end the war.
“It was determined by all that the best way to end the horrible war between Russia and Ukraine is to go directly to a peace agreement, which would end war, and not to a simple cease-fire agreement, which would not often keep” Social truth Publish Saturday.

Trump also said that if his meeting with Zelenskyy in DC on Monday was going well, they will work to plan a trilateral meeting with Putin, probably to obtain a finalized and signed peace agreement. However, Trump and Zelenskyy both confirmed that they spoke on Friday after the American summit-Russia.
The rejection by the president of a cease-fire agreement echoes that Zelenskyy often said concerning lasting peace, rather than a “break between Russian invasions”.
“Today, following a conversation with President Trump, we coordinated the posts more with European leaders. The posts are clear. A real peace must be carried out, which will be lasting, not only another break between Russian invasions,” wrote Zelenskyy in an article on X on Saturday.

Zelenskyy to meet Trump in DC after the historic summit of Putin
The European leaders involved in the “coalition of volunteers”, notably the British Prime Minister Keir Starmer, the French president Emmanuel Macron and others, also expressed their desire for “just and lasting peace”. Officials published a joint statement after Trump’s meeting and Putin, congratulating American efforts and encouraging them to continue.
“We are also ready to work with President Trump and President Zelenskyy to a trilateral summit with European support,” the statement said.
Zelenskyy said on X that he had urged Trump to issue sanctions if Russia refuses to participate in a trilateral meeting. This decision is possible because Trump threatened to hit Russia with “very serious” economic consequences if Putin derails the peace process, but did not explain what it would imply.

Although Putin and Trump did not conclude an agreement at their meeting in Alaska, the summit was largely considered a successful step towards peace. Trump told Sean Hannity de Fox News in an exclusive interview that the summit was a 10 out of 10 and that Putin wants war to be “finished”.
“We see the desire of the American administration and the president Trump personally to facilitate the resolution of the Ukrainian conflict, his desire to immerse himself in the essence and to understand his origins,” Putin said in a statement after the meeting, according to a Translation of Reuters.
Putin reiterated her position according to which conflict with Ukraine is based on security problems for Russia. He also said that he considered the Ukrainian people as “fraternal” and that “for the Ukrainian regulation to be sustainable and in the long term, all the deep causes of the crisis must be eliminated,” according to Reuters.
It remains to be seen if Putin would be open to a trilateral meeting to end the brutal war of years.
