First on the fox – A pro-Trump legal group founded by the help of the White House, Stephen Miller, filed a Foia request Thursday to request all the files and data of crime compiled by the DC metropolitan police department, as part of an effort to examine the information and statistics of crime which, according to senior officials, the senior officials were “manipulated”.

The request of the America First Legal Foundation (AFL) includes requests for a wide range of DC police forces documents, including all communications by email or internal directives reflecting any change in the monitoring or report of the Ministry of Crimes in the City, as well as any file “reflecting falsification or non-publication of data and statistics on crime, among others.

This is part of a broader investigation on Thursday, only four days after President Donald Trump published his in order to temporarily federate DC Both deployment of hundreds of troops from the DC National Guard in the city and temporarily taking federal control of the DC police forces to suppress crime.

In the request of the foia, the AFL also asked for files of “all communications” linked to Michael Pulliam, the DC police officer who was put on administrative leave in May, after being accused of having changed the crime statistics to minimize crimes.

Pulliam was previously commanding police commander for the third district of the Metropolitan Police Department, which includes Adams Morgan and Columbia Heights.

The Polliam investigation has become a kind of political lightning rod in recent days, as Trump officials have highlighted the investigation and his leave as proof that MPD sought to handle or massage crime statistics in the national capital.

The news of the AFL investigation is involved while President Donald Trump and the White House officials criticized what they describe as a “ridiculous” crime at DC, and have repeatedly said that the crime statistics may not be a precise representation of the situation on the ground – something that criticism supports is simply the justification for the administration to pass through his decree.

Deputy Chief of Staff of the White House, Stephen Miller, said in Newsnation in an interview earlier this week than Washington, DC, “was more violent than Baghdad”.

“As every day goes, new horrible examples of violent crimes are reported throughout the district,” AFL’s principal lawyer, Scoinos, told Fox News Digital to Fox News. “The AFL investigates the question of whether, as described by recent reports, official DC crime statistics may have been deliberately falsified to make the city safer than it is.”

“President Trump has intensified to make Washington DC safer for all residents and visitors to the national capital, but the left is a locking of DC’s defense as” sufficiently safe “,” added Scoinos. “Americans know better.”

Trump, in his executive decree of August 11, said a “criminal emergency” in the national capital. This ordinance invokes article 740 of the DC domicile rule law, affirming that the federal control of the metropolitan police service is necessary to maintain public order to DC to protect the national capital – including federal buildings, goods and monuments – and to guarantee the “necessary conditions” for the ordered functioning of the federal government.

By announcing their investigation on Thursday, the AFL also quoted a report published Thursday morning by the Washington Free Beacon involving a DC settlement agreement with a former police sergeant, Charlotte Djossou, who would have continued MPD chiefs in 2020 to “miscademize offenses” to deflate DC crime statistics.

These regulations were not included in the Foia request of AFL, and Fox News Digital could not immediately confirm the details of the report, nor the nature of the settlement agreement in question.

However, the news of the AFL survey comes when Trump’s senior officials and the President’s allies seized the POULLIAM’s investigation as a means of questioning the accuracy of federal data on Crime at DC, the administration sought to undermine the preliminary federal statistics published in January 2025 which declared that the violent crime in the national capital had dropped to its lowest point in more than 30 years.

DC officials, for their part, conceded that the drop in violent crimes could be overestimated (data on the MPD website now show a drop of 26% between 2023 and 2024).

But they have rejected the idea that artificially deflated crime data are to blame. In An interview with NBC News Earlier this week, the mayor of DC, Muriel Bowser, said that a recent examination of all MPD crime data had found 552 victims of less violent crimes during the first eight 2025, compared to the same period in 2024. The crime was broken in the seven districts, with one, she told NBC.

“Any comparison with a country torn apart by war is hyperbolic and false,” she said in a television interview on Sunday.
