The Pentagon would have developed plans for a “reaction force” of hundreds of members of the National Guard who would be ready to deploy at any time to help suffocate civil disorders.

The plan, reported by The Washington PostFor a “rapid reaction force of domestic civil disturbance” provides 600 soldiers pending, ready to deploy in as little as a hour, the troops would be divided into two groups of 300, stationed in military bases in Alabama and Arizona.

The documents, which would have been prepared for the defense secretary, Pete Hegseth by the head of the Elbridge Colby politics, describe a “pre -cut” idea.

“The Ministry of Defense is a planning organization and regularly examines how the ministry would react to a variety of contingencies around the world,” a defense official at Fox News Digital said. “We will not discuss these plans through disclosed documents, pre-decision or not.”

Trump has already deployed the army to domestic purposes, first in Los Angeles in June, sending 5,000 members of the National Guard and the Marines to write anti-immigration riots. On Monday, he deployed 800 troops of the National Guard of DC to support the police in Washington, DC, by repressing violent crimes.

The administration also sent thousands of soldiers to the southern border in a show of strength to discourage illegal immigration.

The administration would be based on title 32, a status in which the National Guard operates under the command of a state governor, but is funded by the federal government, depending on the position. Authority is generally used for domestic missions, such as responding to natural disasters. When deployed under title 32, the members of the guard may benefit from limited powers of the police. A section of the American code allows the commander -in -chief to bypass certain restrictions on the use of soldiers for domestic purposes.

The troops, the army and the Air Force National Guard, would be equipped with weapons and riots and would receive training for the mission.

The documents have also implemented potential negative implications of the idea: questions on civil balance and appropriate legal considerations, budget and logistical constraints, and reduced availability for local emergency missions.

The National Guard first tested the concept of a reaction force before the 2020 elections, when 60 soldiers in Arizona and Alabama were invited to be alert and ready to deploy to respond to political violence. The goalkeeper deployed in many places to respond to demonstrations following the death of George Floyd.
