First on the fox – The United States can allow a controversial project to resolution of the United Nations Security Council to say that some criticisms say that Hezbollah, the terrorist organization supported by Iran.

The provisional strength of the United Nations in the mandate of Lebanon (Unifil) should renew at the end of August, and the text of the French authorized would buy the mission another year while not giving a date of firm dismissal, according to a project obtained by Fox News Digital. However, he indicates that the ultimate objective is to have “the Lebanese government (being) the only security supplier in southern Lebanon” as long as it “fully controls all Lebanese territory”.

The project also urges Israel to withdraw from its five remaining positions within Lebanon, which, according to Israel, is supposed to counter Hezbollah. Israel would also be encouraged to participate in “diplomatic efforts” to delimit a border between it and Lebanon. If the resolution was to pass in its current form, Lebanon would be responsible for the management of positions using Unifil.

As part of its objective of cleaning the south of Lebanon of unauthorized armed personnel – mainly Hezbollah agents – the resolution encourages the international community to support the Lebanese armed forces (Laf) so that it can ensure the absence of armed factions between the blue line and the Litani river.

After the Second War of Lebanon in 2006, the United Nations Security Council adopted resolution 1701, which stressed that Unifil and Laf would work to block the activity of Hezbollah in southern Lebanon. However, this has not been the case and criticism fear that the French project will strengthen only one system that has already failed.

An analyst of the main policies for the Jewish Institute for National Security in America (JINSA) expressed concern about the renewal of Unifil’s mandate and called on the United States to opinerer.

“Unifil has proven, over the race of decades, its failure to achieve any semblance of its stats purpose. Unifil was created in 1978, During the chaotic lebanese civil war, to try to stabilize lebanon and prevent broad spillover,” yoni tobin pointed out in an op-ed Algemeiner. He also noted that Unifil did not act against the construction of Hezbollah its arsenal despite the green light to do so.

In the years following the death of the resolution, the terrorist organization was active, Israel discovering tunnel networks similar to those used by Hamas. In addition, Hezbollah quickly joined the Hamas War against Israel after the massacre of October 7.

Unifil has ignored the accumulation of Hezbollah terrorism for 18 years, said the Israel ambassador

“Among countless United Nations failures in the Middle East, Unifil can be the most spectacular. Locked to ensure that Hezbollah would not rearm after the 2006 war, he patiently looked at Hezbollah who became the largest non-state and military terrorist in the world,” said the former American ambassador during the first Trump administration, David Friedman declared to Fox News Digital in June. “Stability in Lebanon – at hand now that Israel has beheaded the leadership of Hezbollah – will not be carried out via Unifil.”

In October 2024, Fox News Digital reported that Unifil had not prevented the rapid rocket and the accumulation of Hezbollah weapons since the implementation of the mandate in 2006.

Pro-Hezbollah officials and soldiers within Lebanon army also remain a basic problem, according to experts and media reports. At the end of January, a chief of the Laf would have sent a classified document to Hezbollah. The SUHIL BAHIJ GHARB of the LAF, which oversees military information for southern Lebanon, obtained the confidential equipment of a military installation led by the United States, France and Unifil.
