Israaid helps move humanitarian aid to Palestinians in Gaza

An Israeli non -governmental organization is working behind the scenes to provide a critical link between Israeli military and international organizations in mind: obtaining humanitarian aid to Palestinian civilians.
“We have really become this informal connector and facilitator between the Israeli authorities and the humanitarian community,” said Israaid CEO Yotam Polizer.
Israaid has worked in 64 countries and is currently the largest humanitarian organization based in Israel.

Polizer says there is now a large consensus that a humanitarian level concerning has been reached in Gaza with pockets of malnutrition through the band. He notes that it is not only food that is necessary by the civilian population, but also medicine, water and nutritional provisions.
“When we reach serious levels of malnutrition, we know that simple rice and flour will not solve the problem,” added Polizer. “We need nutritional supplements, we need people to get protein.”

“Israel’s declared policy for two and a half months after the ceasefire collapse was that nothing comes in,” said Polizer. “It was politics because the plan was to put pressure on Hamas.”
The CEO of Israaid says that the emphasis must be put on the safeguard of lives, not on the “blame game”. He urges the United Nations, Israeli Defense Forces, Gaza Humanitarian Foundation (GHF) and all humanitarian organizations to work together and find solutions.
“As a humanitarian organization, the concept of” not harming “is really our Bible,” added Polizer.
A few months after the start of the war, Israaid began to receive requests from the world humanitarian organizations with which they had worked in Afghanistan and Ukraine, asking for help to facilitate aid deliveries in Gaza.

These groups had problems with customs authorization and the approval of the Israeli army to deliver supplies to the Palestinians in Gaza. These are problems that Israaid could help solve.
Despite political and cultural differences, Polizer said that the United States Jewish community intensifies to give and support the search for solutions for the hunger crisis in Gaza.
“You can support the humanitarian crisis in Gaza, but that does not mean that you are anti-Israeli,” he concluded.
