The investigation comes a month after a story broke out of the Federal Housing Finance Agency (FHFA) sending a criminal dismissal to the Ministry of Justice (DoJ) alleging that Schiff, in several cases, falsified banking documents and property files to acquire more favorable loan conditions.

In a 2011 affidavit signed by the California Congress Member of the time, Schiff certified that a property of the county of Montgomery, Maryland, is his main residence.

“On the basis of media reports, Mr. Adam B. Schiff has, in several cases, falsified banking documents and property files to acquire more favorable loan conditions, which has an impact on payments from 2003 to 2019 for a property based in Potomac, Maryland,” wrote the director of the FHFA, William Pulte, in the letter. “As a regulator of Fannie MAE, Freddie Mac and federal banks on real estate loans, we take the allegations of mortgage fraud very seriously or other criminal activities. Such misconduct endangers the security and solidity of regulated FHFA entities and the security and stability of the American mortgage market.”

Pulte then received a memo of the financial crimes of Fannie MAE concluding that Schiff would have engaged in “a supported model of false occupation of occupation possible” on five loans Fannie Mae, Fox News learned.

Schiff and his wife bought a house in Potomac, Maryland, in 2003 for $ 870,000, according to the letter. They concluded a mortgage agreement supported by Fannie MAE for $ 610,000 at a rate of 5.625% over a period of 30 years, saying that property would be their main and main residence.

The letter said it reaffirmed that the Maison du Maryland was their main residence in mortgage refinancing documents in 2009, 2011, 2012 and 2013, although Schiff is an elected representative of California at the same time.

Fox News obtained a copy of the 2011 Affidavit showing that Schiff signed by certifying that the Maison du Maryland is its main residence.

Pulte said that Schiff and his wife have not listed Maryland’s house as a second home in 2020.

During the same time, Schiff took the tax exemption from an owner on a condo in which he has Burbank, California, Also saying that the house as a main residence for a reduction of $ 7,000 on the 1%property tax, Pulte wrote, citing media reports.

In 2023, noted the letter, a spokesperson for Schiff said that “Adam’s main residence is Burbank, California, and will remain so when he won the Senate’s seat”.

The federal housing manager wrote that he thought that the alleged misconduct of Schiff could be violations of federal criminal codes prohibiting wired fraud, mail fraud, banking fraud and false statements to financial institutions.

Schiff “seems to have falsified files in order to receive favorable loan conditions and also seems to have been aware of the financial advantages of a primary residence mortgage compared to a side residence mortgage,” wrote Pulte.

According to the letter, a spokesperson for Schiff in 2023 told CNN that “Adam’s addresses in California and Maryland were listed as primary residences for loan because they are both occupied throughout the year and distinguish them from a vacation property.”
