President Donald Trump unveiled plans on Friday to reposition two nuclear submarines while the former president of Russia and Russia clashed on the increased pressure of Trump on Moscow to end the war with Ukraine.

After Trump announced a new deadline for Russia to end the conflict with Ukraine in early August, former Russian president Dmitry Medvedev said on Monday that the announcement was an “step”.

“Based on the very provocative declarations of the former president of Russia, Dmitry Medvedev, who is now the vice-president of the Security Council of the Russian Federation, I ordered that two nuclear submarines are positioned in the appropriate regions, just in case these stupid and inflammatory declarations are more than those,” said Trump in a social Friday.

The announcement comes just a few weeks after Trump welcomed the contributions of a guided missile submarine involved in strikes against Iran, which launched more than two dozen Tomahawk cruise missiles in key targets, officials said.

“By the way, if someone thinks that our” material “was great during the weekend, by far the strongest and the best equipment we have, 20 years old on the pack, is our nuclear submarines,” Trump said on June 23 in a social article of truth. “These are the most powerful and most deadly weapons ever built, and have just launched the 30 Tomahawks – the 30s have perfectly struck their brand. So, in addition to our big hunting pilots, thank you to the captain and the team!”

The mission, which targeted the Iranian nuclear installations Fordow, Natanz and Isfahan, also involved more than 125 American planes, including B-2 stealth bombers, according to the president of the chiefs of joint staff, General Dan Caine.

Caine has not disclosed the name of the submarine involved in Iran strikes. However, he said that a “guided missile submarine” was involved.

Four of the US Navy Ohio class submarines have been converted into guided missile submarines to accommodate conventional land attacks, as well as special operations platforms. These submarines are Ohio, Florida, Michigan and Georgia, according to the US Navy.

All submarines of the American navy are nuclear propulsion and Trump has not disclosed additional details surrounding the submarines that would be repositioned in the middle of increased tension with Russia. It is incredibly rare for defense officials to comment or reveal the locations of the submarines, given the very classified nature of their deployments and movements.

Trump initially announced on July 14 that he would disconnect “serious prices” against Russia if Moscow did not accept a peace agreement within 50 days. However, Trump said on Monday that the wait for this period was useless because the negotiations continued to sorrow for months.

“I will make a new deadline, about 10 to 10 or 12 days from today,” Trump told journalists in Scotland on Monday. “There is no reason to wait. It was 50 days. I wanted to be generous, but we just don’t see any progress.”

In response, Medvedev, now vice-president of the Security Council of Russia, accused Trump of having played the “Ultimatum game”.

“Trump plays Ultimatum’s game with Russia: 50 days or 10 … He should remember 2 things: 1. Russia is not Israel or even Iran. 2. Each new ultimatum is a threat and a step towards war. Not between Russia and Ukraine, but with his own country,” said Medvedev in an article on X on Monday.

Trump’s new deadline comes in the midst of increased frustration with Russian President Vladimir Putin in the midst of peace progress between peace between Russia and Ukraine, and only a few days after the launch of more than 300 drones, four cruising missiles and three ballistic missiles in Ukraine, according to Ukrainian Air Force.
