The Ministry of Internal Security denounces Senator Chris Van Hollen, D-MD., And other Democrats for trying to “make the headlines by demanding to enter and stage a sit-in in an Ice installation in Baltimore on Monday.

Van Hollen made the headlines for a large part of this year because of his frank support for the alleged member of the Gang MS-13 Kilmar Abrego Garcia, who is a Salvadoral illegal immigrant currently in trials of human beings.

Van Hollen and several other Democrats in the Maryland Chamber and Senate presented themselves in Baltimore at Fallon Federal Building on Monday, but were refused entry into an ice detention center in the building. The group of legislators also included senator Angela Alsobrooks and four members of the Maryland Chamber delegation: representatives Glenn Ivey, Johnny Olszewski, Sarah Elfreth and Kweisi Mfume.

In a video captured by the Baltimore SunMFUME can be understood to say to a federal employee: “We expect, frankly, that we will be allowed to enter.”

After being denied access to the installation, the group held a press conference outside the building in which Mfume said: “We had to stand outside, knock on the door and finally sit in front of the door.”

After the incident, Olszewski posted on his X, “my colleagues from Maryland and I refused entry to the Baltimore Ice detention center – despite all the legal requirements”.

He said that “the Congress had the legal right to inspect FEC facilities”, adding that “in the midst of inhuman conditions of conditions, this refusal is alarming”.

In response, the DHS has published a statement saying: “The Congress member, if you need a photo session with criminal foreigners, protect – check for a tour.”

The agency said that requests to visit the detention facilities “should be made with enough time to prevent interference with the authority of President II of the President to supervise the functions of the Executive Ministry”.

The press release indicates that a week “is sufficient to ensure any intrusion into the constitutional authority of the president” and that “any request for shortening of this period must be approved” by the secretary of the DHS, Kristi Noem.

The agency has published another statement asking: “How many advertising can the sanctuary politicians extract a terrorist and an alleged human trafficker?”

The press release explained that visits to the facilities must be approved by the secretary due to an “increase in aggressions, disturbances and obstructions to application, including by politicians themselves”.

For his part, Noem published photos of several criminals of illegal immigrants in Maryland, he said that he was accused of odious crimes such as rape, possession of juvenile pornography, the sexual abuse of a minor and conspiracy to commit murder.

“These are the monsters that @Chrisvanhollen protects against the American victims,” said Noem.

In response, Van Hollen’s office directed Fox News Digital to a statement he made on social networks in which he said: “Noem is almost as much as his boss.”

Van Hollen said he supported the ice by targeting “the worst of the worst”, but he said that “ice data showed that 72% of ice -detained people do not have a criminal record and 84% represent no threats”.

He also declared that the delegation had asked for a visit, while adding “but we did not need – they are held by law to leave us surveillance”.

“It’s BS, simple and simple,” said Van Hollen.

According to a DHS statement last week, 70% of American ice arrests were unconnivious or accused of crimes. This occurs while the agency faces intense criticism for its application of immigration laws and that officers face an 830% increase in attacks.

The Olszewski office also directed Fox News Digital to a declaration that the Congress Member made on X, in which he declared that the delegation “did not seek a” tour “, nor your authorization to do our job”.

“This is surveillance. Congress has legal power to enter ICE facilities – with or without notice. But to be clear: we have given the opinion of the week you need. Why move the goal posts? What do you hide?

The IVEY office shared a letter with Fox News Digital dated July 21 in which the delegation informed Noem and the acting director of the Ice Todd Lyons of their intention to visit the installation of Baltimore. The letter did not seem to make a request. The president of the James Comer government surveillance and reform committee, R-Ky., And the member of the Robert Garcia classification, D-Calif., Were also included in the letter.

The Congress Member also shared a letter that he and Elfreth sent to Noem on July 23 in which the two asked for the immediate release of Daniel Fuentes Espinal, an immigrant and pastor Honduanians they affirmed were wrongly arrested by ice.

Ivey told Fox News Digital that Noem “does not explain why children are arrested in a baseball camp in New York or in volleyball training JV in Massachusetts and a Christian pastor on the eastern bank of Maryland is swept away by ice.

Fox News Digital also contacted the Office of Senator Alsobrooks as well as the offices of Elfreth and MFUME representatives to comment, but did not receive any answers at the time of publication.
