President Donald Trump meets British Prime Minister Keir Starmer on Monday, just a day after Trump obtained a trade agreement with the European Union.

Trump praised Starmer on the steps of his golf station in Turnberry, Scotland on Monday. The two briefly spoke to journalists, commenting on both immigration issues in the United Kingdom and the current hunger crisis in Gaza.

“I’m trying to have people nourished right now,” said Trump. “For me, it’s your number one position because you have a lot of hungry people. You have people you know, the United States recently, a few weeks ago, we gave $ 60 million. It is a lot of money. No other nation has given money.”

Starmer agreed that the situation in Gaza is a “humanitarian crisis”, and the couple said they were planning to discuss the issue at their meeting.

Trump also discussed the war in Ukraine, saying that he continues to be “disappointed” by Russian President Vladimir Putin. He said he could reduce the 50-day window that the United States has given for Ukraine and Russia to conclude a cease-fire agreement.

“I think I already know the answer, which will happen,” said Trump.

Trump also commented that the world would know six great wars if he did not serve as a president, quoting his efforts to put an end to the conflict of India with Pakistan as well as friction between Serbia and Kosovo.

In May, the United Kingdom became the first to announce a trade agreement with the United States day after the Liberation, when Trump announced widespread prices for several countries earlier this year.

White House Press secretary Karoline Leavitt also told journalists last week that Trump and Starmer would meet “to refine the great trade agreement that had been negotiated”, although the White House did not answer questions from Fox News Digital on what will be specifically discussed during the weekend.

“The United Kingdom is the only country to have concluded this agreement with the United States, reducing car export rates from 27.5% to 10%, saving hundreds of millions of million each year and protecting hundreds of thousands of jobs,” the British government said in a statement. “At the same time, the aerospace sector has experienced the abolition of 10% tariffs on goods such as engines and plane rooms, helping to make businesses such as Rolls Royce more competitive and allow them to continue to be at the forefront of innovation.”

Starmer defended his relationship with Trump in an interview with the BBC earlier this month and said that it was “in the national interest” that the two men get along.

“We are different people, and we have different political history and political trends, but we have a good relationship and that comes from a certain number of places,” Starmer told BBC’s “political thought”. “I think I understand what anchors the president, what really cares for him.”
