EXCLUSIVE: A pro-life group celebrates a “formidable victory” after Planned Parenthood announced that two of its facilities in Houston, Texas will close this fall, while republican legislators continue to aim for the organization.

In an exclusive interview with Fox News Digital, CEO of 40 Days for Life and founder Shawn Carney, a resident of Houston, expressed “personal and professional exaltation” during the closing the installations, including the clinic of 78,000 square feet which, according to him, was the largest abortion establishment in the west hemisphere.

“This is a huge news for the pro-life movement and shows the direction that Planned Parenthood VA, which is broken,” said Carney.

Planned Parenthood Gulf Coast – which manages six clinics in the Houston region and two in Louisiana – will close its prevention park and its southwest centers on September 30, while the other Houston installations will be acquired by the largest affiliate in the organization.

This occurs in the middle of several closures of Planned Parenthood installations in various states, including New York, where the organization sells its only building in Manhattan Health Center for $ 39 million.

The installations of the states led by the GOP with abortion restrictions, including Texas, were also forced to stop the procedures following the decision of the Supreme Court of 2022 which canceled Roe V. Wade and returned the decisions concerning abortion in the United States.

“Now they close the largest abortion center in the world,” said Carney. “Their flagship product. They are very proud of that in Houston, Texas. They finally close it, and it’s incredible.”

The company cited the increase in costs, staff shortages and low reimbursement rates as reasons for closing the two Houston installations. In recent years, GOP officials have made repeated attempts to close Planned Parenthood, even after almost all abortions have been prohibited under Texas Law.

The Trump administration has sought to impose financing discounts on Planned Parenthood which could lead to the closure of additional installations. A provision in a bill supported by the GOP would end Medicaid payments for one year to the suppliers of abortion who received more than $ 800,000 of the program in 2023.

A judge granted a preliminary injunction earlier this week by preventing the government from reducing Medicaid payments to Planned Parenthood member organizations which do not provide abortions or have not reached a threshold of at least $ 800,000 in Medicaid reimbursements during a given year.

Carney said that 40 days for life has prayed and held upper night lights outside the mega-facility of Houston since 2006.

“Innumerable people were out, offered alternatives. We had pro-life buses outside to perform free ultrasounds. There were so many saved lives, but to be honest, it just seemed to be Goliath and that didn’t even matter if we were David,” he said, adding that the “giant” establishment had even provided abortions at the end. ” were always going to be open and always victorious. “

Carney described the closure of the facilities as a “formidable victory” for the pro-life movement and said that it represented “one of the greatest victories we have” after the reversal of Roe c. Wade.

“Planned Parenthood has always been very heavy in DC, and it was a weakness for the pro-life movement. But once (the court) returned it to the United States, he returned it to the place where the pro-life movement was the strongest, which was the basis,” he said.

The closure of the two Houston installations shows “more than anything else” than “the pro-life movement is built for a post-Roe America,” said Carney, adding that Planned Parenthood is not a “monster that cannot disappear”.

“They are very, very vulnerable. When you watch the closure of New York and the closure of Houston, that’s what it represents. All the nonsense concerning other services and serve women and helping women with low income. Because when you remove abortions or you offer alternatives, they close and they close their most prosperous places,” he said.
