President Donald Trump obtained a 221 million dollars regulation with Columbia University to resolve several federal civil rights surveys.
The agreement includes $ 200 million over three years for alleged discriminatory practices and $ 21 million to settle allegations of anti -Semitic employment discrimination against Jewish teachers after the attacks of October 7, 2023 in Israel.
The White House called her the largest colony linked to the anti -Semitism of American history; Columbia confirmed the dollar amounts, but did not characterize the agreement in this way.
The agreement restores billions of federal research funds and requires surveillance through an independent instructor. Columbia has agreed to reform, in particular improved rules for protest on the campus and the evolution of the disciplinary authority of teachers to administrators.
“The Trump administration agreement with Columbia University is a seismic change in the struggle of our country to hold institutions that accept dollars of American taxpayers responsible for anti -Semitic discrimination and harassment,” said education secretary Linda McMahon in a statement to Fox News Digital. “For decades, the American public has watched our elite campuses were overwhelmed by anti-Western teachings and a left-wing group thought that restricts the word and the debate to push a unilateral vision of our nation and the world.
“These dangerous trends have fueled the triggering of violent anti-Semitism which paralyzed campuses after the massacre of October 7 and was previously unthinkable in the United States of America.”

Columbia has confirmed that most of its suspended federal subsidies will be restored, including those of the National Institutes of Health and the Ministry of Health and Social Services. The University noted that part of the unrelated funding reflects unrelated federal cuts in specific research fields.
The agreement also codifies the reforms that Columbia announced earlier this year, in particular changes in campus security, improved training programs and new report mechanisms. It also includes the appointment of title VI and title VII coordinators, as well as additional commitments made in July, in particular, the adoption of the definition of international anti -Semitism of the Holocaust Remembance Alliance (IHRA).
Columbia’s public declaration does not recognize the assertions of the White House that the University will examine international students’ admission or Middle East programs or share data from the admission process.
The university’s Jewish student life organization, Columbia / Barnard Hillel, said the colony represents a major step in the right direction.

“This announcement is an important recognition of what Jewish students and their families expressed with an increasing emergency: anti -Semitism in Columbia is real, and it has had a tangible impact on the feeling of security and belonging of Jewish students and, in turn, their civil rights,” said Brian Cohen, Executive Director of the Lavine family, in a press release. “Recognizing this fact is essential, and with the new path exposed by the president and the administrators, I hope that today’s agreement marks the start of a real change.
“In the coming months, Columbia / Barnard Hillel will continue our work with the administration, teachers, students and elders to strengthen Jewish life in Columbia, including ensuring that the roadmap presented in this agreement is followed.”
The acting president Claire Shipman said that the regulation protects academic independence and allows essential research to resume.
Columbia did not admit any reprehensible act, but recognized the need for reform after “painful and unacceptable incidents” affecting Jewish students and teachers.

The Columbia public declaration does not mention several complaints made by the White House, including a compulsory examination of the Middle East programming and new data sharing requirements related to international admissions.
“This agreement marks an important before after a period of supported federal control and institutional uncertainty,” said Shipman. “The regulations have been carefully designed to protect the values that define us and allow our essential research partnership with the federal government to get back on the right track. It is important to note that it protects our independence, a critical condition for academic excellence and learned exploration, work that is vital for the public interest.”

The White House has also cited provisions related to women’s sports and the security of the campus not mentioned in the Columbia declaration.
The White House did not immediately respond to the additional request for Fox News Digital comments.
