The winner of the New York Democratic primary for the mayor is traditionally considered the first favorite in the general elections.
This is because the Democrats are more numerous than the Republicans about six for one in the most populous city in the country.
However, this is not the case this year, a month after the Democratic Socialist Zohran Mamdani, the Ugandan State of State, 33, amazed the political world by going beyond the former governor of New York Andrew Cuomo and nine other candidates in a primary victory on the part of the candidacy.
President Donald Trump believes that Cuomo, who officially announced last week that he would continue his candidacy for the town hall as an independent candidate, has a solid chances of defeating Mamdani, whom the president said on several occasions as a “communist”.
“I think he would have a good chance of winning,” the president for journalists at the White House last week told Cuomo’s announcement.

A handful of surveys carried out this month in New York suggest that Mamdani is the favorite, but that he is far from fleeing with the race. The surveys indicate Mamdani in front of Cuomo between 15 points at three points.
Mayor Eric Adams, the besieged holder who announced, Curtis Sliwa, announced that the co -founder of Guardian Angels, Curtis Sliwa, announced that the co -founder of Guardian Angels is the co -founder of Guardian Angels.

Jim Walden, a former federal prosecutor, presents himself as independent.
Walden proposed that an independent investigation be carried out in September to determine which candidate would have the best chance to defeat Mamdani, the other candidates agreeing to abandon.

Cuomo adopted the idea, Adams and Sliwa not signing on board.
The fact that the former governor, who resigned in 2021 in the midst of several scandals, and Adams, who faced a multitude of controversies since he won the election as mayor four years ago, both agreeing that such a scenario seems distant, both urged the other to leave the race.
“We have to put our political ambitions in the rear bench in the interests of New Yorkers,” Walden said last weekend in an interview with Bryan Llenas of Fox News.

He accused the other candidates “at the moment, they are putting their own political ambitions above New Yorkers”.
Since his victory for the appointment of the Democratic Party, some of the unions and elected officials who have supported Cuomo in primary now support Mamdani.

Mamdani, who was supported by the representative of progressive champions Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez from New York and Senator Bernie Sanders of Vermont, reached a main victory thanks to an energetic campaign which has emphasized the affordability and the high cost of living in New York.
Mamdani has made intelligent use of social media platforms, including Tiktok, while he was engaging in low propagation voters. He proposed to eliminate the prices to roll New York City Vast bus system, manufacturer Cuny (City University of New York) “without tuition fees”, freezing rents on municipal housing, offering “free daycares” for children until the age of 5 and the establishment of grocery stores managed by the government.
The Republicans targeted Mamdani and tried to transform him into a new face of the Democratic Party. They aim to anchor it to vulnerable democrats across the country that arise in the elections this year and next year.

The Republicans have highlighted the recent news concerning Mamdani which has become viral. They include a photo of 2020 that Mamdani published online which shows him to reverse a statue of Christopher Columbus, stories about comments that Mamdani made last when he said that the mayor would stop the Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu And his recent comments in an interview with cable news that “I have many criticism of capitalism”.
“I do not yet think that the race is over. We have a few people who run. There are things that come out about it,” said Trump last week, when he was referring to Mamdani.
