In July 2021, the owner of the Paul Dolan team announced that the Cleveland Indians would become the Cleveland guards. Cleveland had been known as the Indians since 1915. Dolan previously said that the decision to explore the name change came from “an alarm clock or an epiphany” after the death of George Floyd.

Be that as it may, the push to keep the Amerindian team names was strong, in particular with the organization of commanders. Trump has already expressed his conviction that the commanders made a mistake when they changed the names of the Redskins.

“The Washington ‘What’s’ should immediately change its name in the Washington Redskins football team. There is a big complaint for that,” Trump Social Trump on Sunday. “Likewise, the Cleveland Indians, one of the six original baseball teams, with a legendary past.

“Our great Indians, in massive numbers, want this to happen. Their inheritance and their prestige are systematically removed from them.

Harris said on the “special report” of Fox News Channel in April that the team would not bring the names of the Redskins even with plans to build a new stadium in Washington, DC

“The names of the commanders actually took an incredible element in our building,” said Harris to the Bret Baier’s question on the names of the Redskins which goes up as part of this new stadium agreement. “So people that certain types of players who are difficult, who love football, are delegated commanders and Jayden (Daniels), for example, is a commander and they are classified.

“And, you know, corporate staff have entered, and obviously, we are in a military city here. There are more military staff than everywhere else, so we are moving forward with the names of the commanders, excited about it, and not looking back.”
