The acting director of the ice, Todd Lyons, blamed the rhetoric of “elected officials” for the increase in attacks against immigration officers on Sunday.

Lyon made these comments during an interview with “Face The Nation” of CBS on Sunday, linking increased violence to the political opponents of President Donald Trump.

“I think that the strong increase in rhetoric, in particular many elected officials, who ashamed, if you want, or denounce the mission of the ICE police, this is what really increases these attacks against officers,” he said.

Lyon noted that there had been an increase of 830% of assaults against officers compared to 2024.

He added that the point of violence is also due to the ice officers are more “visible” in communities across the country as Trump’s expulsion campaign develops.

“The immigration mission is one of the ancestors of this administration, so there is a lot of control and advertising,” said Lyons.

The manager also confirmed that the ice does not limit his arrests to illegal immigrants who have been found guilty of a distinct crime. He said many illegal immigrants without a criminal record had been considered “collateral arrests” during operations targeting violent migrants.

Nevertheless, he added that Ice “targets the worst of the worst”.

The ice officers themselves spoke of violence and increased criticisms they were confronted with the new administration.

“It was very sad to see how we are mean, the names used towards us,” the officer Kristian Moreno told “My View” Lara Trump on Fox News this weekend.

“By doing this (interview) right now, I had to talk to my family and say:” Hey, that’s something I think, something I think is important for us to bring our stories out and let the American public know that we are humans. “We had a job to do.

He and the Edgardo Centeno and Chris Sandoval officers shared their prospects on violence that ice officers risk daily.

“We have to do our job. We have raised the hand to defend the Constitution, and we apply the law, so we adjusted ourselves by seeing ourselves what is going on in our country, but it is sad my heart, especially when you serve in combat and you see your country so divided,” said Centeno.
