Hakeem Jeffries still retains approval after meeting Zohran Mamdani

After meeting the leader of the mayor of New York, Zohran Mamdani, the chief of the minority, the representative Hakeem Jeffries, Dn.y., published a lukewarm declaration through a spokesman for the meeting and did not approve the candidate of his party.
Mamdani, an assembly of New York State and self-proclaimed socialist who promised to revise New York and launch new massive government programs, was approved by progressive politicians such as representative Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, Dn.y., and Senator Bernie Sanders, I-VT.
Although he won the Democratic Party’s appointment to former New York Governor Andrew Cuomo by a large margin, Mamdani has not yet been approved by the main party leaders, Jeffries and Senator Chuck Schumer, Dn.Y.
Jeffries and Mamdani met in New York for about an hour on Friday.
After the meeting, the journalist of Politico Nicholas Wu published a declaration Jeffries spokesperson, Justin Chermol, who called him “constructive” but included any mention of approval.

Chermol said that “the meeting between the leader Jeffries and the deputy Mamdani was constructive, candid and community focused, with a particular accent on affordability.
“The leader Jeffries and the deputy Mamdani discussed a variety of other important questions, including public security, the increase in anti -Semitism, the gentrification and the importance of resuming the house in 2026.”
According to Chermol’s declaration, the two “agreed to convert soon, alongside other members of the delegation of the New York Congress and some high -level community leaders”.

Mamdani is considered by many to be a controversial candidate, partly because of his socialist policy proposals and his strong criticisms of the State of Israel. Mamdani, who is Muslim, refused to say if Israel has the right to exist as a Jewish state and his initial refusal to condemn the expression “globalize the intifada”. However, he recently began to distance himself from the sentence.
Jeffries told journalists on Thursday, “as was the case with each high -level approval decision that I have made in the past, I have a conversation seated, then I take it from there.”
The meeting with Jeffries comes after Mamdani’s recent visit to Washington, DC, where he attended a breakfast organized by Ocasio-Cortez and got involved in some of the most powerful players in the party. Mamdani presents himself to dislodge the current mayor of New York, Eric Adams, who presents himself to a re -election as an independence. He also faces Cuomo, who presents himself as an independent, and the activist Curtis Sliwa, who is the candidate of the Republican Party.
