Ice granted access to Medicaid data to monitor and expel illegal immigrants

Immigration and customs application (ICE) have recently obtained access to data from Medicaid registrants, helping the agents responsible for fulfilling the Trump administration’s objective of finding and deporting illegal immigrants.
Medicaid, which uses taxpayers to provide health insurance to adults and low -income children, has more than 71 million registered in March 2025.
The information shared with ice will include domestic addresses and ethnic groups, according to a report by the Associated Press.
The agreement, negotiated between the centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) and the Department of Homeland Security (DHS), was signed on Monday, according to the report.

Although the real number of illegal immigrants on Medicaid is unknown, around 1.4 million people currently on Medicaid do not meet the requirements of citizenship and immigration status for registration in Medicaid, according to a document from the Congressional Budget Office.
DHS assistant secretary Tricia McLaughlin told Fox News Digital that the initiative will guarantee that illegal immigrants do not benefit from health benefits funded by taxpayers.
“President Trump has constantly promised to protect Medicaid for eligible beneficiaries,” McLaughlin wrote in a statement. “To keep this promise after Joe Biden has flooded our country of tens of millions of illegal CMS and DHS explore an initiative to ensure that illegal foreigners do not receive the advantages of Medicaid which are intended for laws respectful of laws.”
