Senator Cory Booker, DN.J., accused Mike Waltz of having posted a “deep cowardice” during the confirmation hearing of the former national security adviser to represent the United States on Tuesday in the United Nations, in the midst of questions on the cat in the signal group that his team had set up to discuss the strikes against the Houthis in March.

Booker, who refused to ask questions, said that Waltz had not received any responsibility when other legislators of the Senate Foreign Relations Committee asked him what was called “signalgate”.

While members of the Trump administration said that no classified information had been disclosed in the cat, which wrongly included a journalist, the Democrats said that certain details had been classified and compromised the security of the troops involved in strikes.

“This aggravates what I think I disqualify for you for this position. For me too, it is just a deep cowardice,” said Booker. “You should intensify now.”

“I just looked with a great disappointment that even after weeks, if not months of reflection, you could not sit down before this committee and take responsibility and speak constructively about what learned,” said Booker.

Waltz faced questions earlier. Chris Coons, D-Conn, and Tim Kaine, D-VA., On his involvement in group cat, where an Atlantic journalist was included with other senior administration officials such as vice-president JD Vance, Secretary of State Marco Rubio and defense secretary Pete Hegseth.

During their interrogation, Waltz argued that no classified information was shared in the group cat and said that no disciplinary measure had been taken following an investigation by the White House. The Pentagon Inspector General’s investigation is currently underway.

“I have only a deep disappointment in what I consider a failure of leadership on your part. God, America more than ever needs – forget the partisanry – just people to intensify and show heart, integrity and honor,” said Booker. “When you lie, see, divert, degrade and unravel the journalists, for me, it is absolutely unacceptable. I have no questions. I cannot support your appointment. I think you have shown a leadership failure at a time when America especially needs honor to get up and show what leadership is really.”

Waltz, who before his stay at the National Security Council was previously a member of the Florida US Congress and is a colonel of the National Army Guard to retirement and a former green beret, challenged the Booker declaration.
