Former National Security Advisor Mike Waltz is about to deal with Senate members on Tuesday to roll the ball on his appointment to represent the United States at the United Nations.
The appearance of Waltz in front of the senatorial committee of foreign relations comes from months after leaving his job at the White House in the middle of the controversy surrounding his role in a signal group with other senior administration officials.
The Democrats promised to grill Waltz in his confirmation process the day after Atlantic magazine reports on a signal group cat that his team had set up to discuss the strikes against the Houthis in March.
Despite this, the difficult questioning of democrats about the so-called “signalgate” problem should not derail Waltz’s confirmation at the post, since Republicans hold a majority of 53 to 47 years in the Senate.
“This is the whole theater – you know that it will be confirmed,” said a source of foreign GOP relations at Fox News Digital. “If Signalgate is a great thing against him, it was not enough to make someone else fiddle or remove something like that.”

Waltz, a former member of the Congress who represented the 6th district of the Florida Congress, is a colonel of the Retired National Guard and a former green beret. During his stay in uniform, he served four deployments in Afghanistan and won four bronze stars – the fourth higher price for military combat, awarded a heroic service against an armed enemy.
Waltz and defense secretary Pete Hegseth were both entangled in the cat reported that the Waltz team created where members of the Trump administration discussed strikes against the Houthis.
Waltz in March said that he had taken the “full responsibility” for the cat in the signal group, and the Trump administration argued that no war plan had been shared in the cat. The Atlantic published the full exchange of messages, which included certain attack details such as specific planes and hours of HegSeth strikes.
On May 1, President Donald Trump announced the departure of Waltz from his role as national security advisor and revealed a few hours later the appointment of the former member of the Florida Congress to represent the United States at the UN
The Democrats called for Hegseth’s resignation following the cat and warned that Waltz would face the heat during the confirmation process of the UN ambassador.
The Illinois Democratic Senator Tammy Duckworth said in an interview in May with CBS News that Waltz could count on a “brutal and brutal audience” of senators, and described his appointment as “faulty”.
“He is not qualified for work, just by nature that he participated in this chain of signals,” CBS News Duckworth told CBS, a member of the senatorial committee for foreign relations.
Duckworth, who served in the Illinois National Guard of the Illinois army as a Blackhawk helicopter pilot and lost his two legs during a 2004 deployment against Iraq, told Fox News Digital on Monday that Waltz’s involvement in the group cat should disqualify him of the UN ambassador. She also said that each official included in the cat should be dismissed.
“As a retired soldier, Waltz should have closed the non -classified channel as soon as he saw HegSeth sharing such classified information that could have killed our drivers,” Duckworth said in a statement. “It is clear that Waltz cannot trust to make critical and sensitive decisions to national security, and I can’t wait to press him on his conduct and keep him responsible.”
Then, American national security advisor? Here’s who could choose to replace Waltz

Senator Tammy Duckworth, D-ill., Said that the involvement of Mike Waltz in the cat’s cat leak should disqualify him from the UN ambassador.
Duckworth has pinned most of the blame on HegSeth for Signalgate. Before Trump’s announcement on the appointment of Waltz’s UN Ambassador, Duckworth said in a position in May on X of “All the idiots of this cat, Hegseth is the greatest risk of security of all – he disclosed the information that put our troops in danger”.
In addition to Waltz and Hegseth, administration officials, including vice-president JD Vance, Secretary of State Marco Rubio and CIA director John Ratcliffe were part of the group cat.
In addition, the member of the senatorial committee of foreign relations, the senator, Chris Coons, D-Conn., Said that Waltz could prepare a meticulous confirmation hearing before the members of the committee.
“I look forward to an in -depth confirmation hearing,” said Coons in an article on X in May.
A spokesperson for Coons did not respond to a request for comments from Fox News Digital.

The source of GOP foreign relations described the signalgate benefits a “huge hamburger” and stressed that the previous efforts of the Democrats to use Signalgate against Waltz and Hegseth proved to be unsuccessful.
“If it was their deadly ball, it would have killed Hegseth, and it would have killed Waltz, but they are both standing,” the source told Fox News Digital.
An assistant from the Senate told Fox News Digital that even if Waltz had gained the weight of the signalgate blame because his team created the cat, the Democrats expected by the group’s cat democrats during the audience consists in fact in finding a new avenue to go after Trump.
“I do not think it is the target. It is just the mechanism to pursue the objective,” said the Senate assistant. “In the end, the Democrats want to criticize and prosecute the president, so these guys are just a mechanism to get there.”
Meanwhile, republican legislators have expressed their support for Waltz, the president of the Senate foreign relations committee, Senator Jim Risch, R-Assaho, calling him “large choice” for the position in an X position in May. In addition, Senator Lindsey Graham, RS.C., said at the time that the Senate would confirm Waltz “for sure”.
“Some things that I know with certainty: the sun rises to the east, sets to the west and Mike Waltz will be confirmed as the next UN ambassador,” said Graham in a post X in May. “It is highly qualified, well positioned and will be a strong voice for our nation at the UN.”
Since the departure of Waltz as a national security advisor, Rubio has intervened to fulfill this role.

Trump previously appointed representative Elise Stefanik, RN.Y., to represent the United States in the UN, however, his appointment was withdrawn in March, and Trump said at the time that the Chamber could not abandon another republican seat with its thin republican majority 220-212.
If he is confirmed as UN ambassador, Waltz would be responsible for representing American interests at the UN headquarters in New York, weighing on resolutions, treaties and other global issues.

The 80th session of the United Nations General Assembly is scheduled for September 9, providing a time window to the appointment of Waltz to pass in advance throughout the confirmation process.
“Hope is to have it in place before the United Nations General Assembly is in session,” said the source of foreign relations in the Fox News Digital.
