Andrew Cuomo says he goes to the distance.

The former New York governor with three mandates, who was defeated by last month by the two figures by the Democratic Socialist Zohran Mamdani in the primary of the Democrat Town Hall of New York, announced on Monday that he would continue his general electoral candidacy as an independent candidate.

“Only 13% of New Yorkers voted during the June primary. The general elections are in November and I am here to win it,” said Cuomo in a video published on social networks.

And Cuomo accused “my opponent, Mr. Mamdani offers smooth slogans but no real solutions”.

Mamdani’s main victory over Cuomo and nine other candidates three weeks ago rocked the Democratic Party and stimulated the 33 -year -old Ogandan state member of Queens to become the first Muslim mayor of the most populated city in the country.

Mamdani officially wins NYC Dem Primary from 12 points on Cuomo, which remains in the race for the moment

Mamdani has achieved a main victory thanks to an energetic campaign that has emphasized the affordability and high cost of New York.

Mamdani has made intelligent use of social media platforms, including Tiktok, while he was engaging in low propagation voters. He proposed to eliminate the prices to set up the vast bus system from New York, making rents from Cuny (University of the City of New York), freezing rents on municipal housing, offering “free daycares” for children up to 5 years and the establishment of grocery stores managed by the government.

And thanks in part to the efforts of an army of massive volunteers from the base, he brought a wave of support for younger and progressive voters to catapulate in first place on Cuomo, which was the favorite.

“Unless you live under a rock, you probably know that the Democratic primary did not take place as I hoped,” said Cuomo, the former governor with three mandates who resigned from his duties in 2021 in the middle of several scandals.

Cuomo, who draws a political return, noted that “as my grandfather said, when you are overturned, learn the lesson and go back to the game. And that’s what I’m going to do. The fight to save our city is not over.”

During an approval event on Mamdani on Monday reacted to Cuomo’s move.

“I welcome everyone to this race, and I am as confident as I was three weeks ago in primary evening,” he said.

“”I think he has trouble reconciling with what Tuesday meant, “added Mamdani.” We had an entire campaign to be said that it was inevitable for Andrew Cuomo to become the next mayor, and he believed that himself. “”

Mamdani also trolted the former governor on Monday, responding to a photo of Cuomo spinning his campaign video.

“We had him made of the man in the street videos with a guy at Carhartt. Next week, he will shout Adeni Chai and eat Khaliat Al Nahl,” said Mamdani in reference to his own viral campaign videos.

Cuomo’s announcement was not a major surprise.

Although he recognized Mamdani’s victory in primary school, Cuomo left the door open to a November race as an independent candidate, who settles New York State rules.

And at the end of last month, Cuomo let a deadline pass for the candidates who had already qualified themselves to present themselves as an independent line of voting line.

But sources told Fox News at the time that Cuomo had not yet committed to carrying out an active general electoral campaign throughout the summer and in the fall.

In Deep Blue New York City, the winner of the Democratic primary is largely favored to win the general elections. If Mamdani wins in November, he will be the first Muslim and millennial mayor of New York.
