The SSN (x) of the navy was originally to be production in 2031. This calendar has since slipped – at 2035 and now at 2040, due to the climbing of costs and budgetary constraints.

The report urges the legislators to determine whether the delay could threaten the American underwater domination and the capacity of the navy to carry out critical missions.
