South African woman murdered on luxury yacht in the Bahamas

A 20-year-old South African woman was found dead aboard a luxury Superyacht in the Bahamas, and another member of the crew would have been charged with her murder.

The Royal Bahamas Royal Police Forces (RBPF) said that the woman had been discovered dead with wounds visible in the ship’s machine room on July 3, when she was moored in a Marina off the coast of Harbor Island. Paige Bell, an air hostess of Johannesburg, was identified as the victim by his family on social networks.

The authorities said that Bell had been missing shortly before 1:00 p.m. when the police arrived at the scene, they found him insensitive, as well as a 39 -year -old man who “suffered from serious arm injuries”, who, according to the police, are the result of a suicide attempt.

A local doctor said Bell died on board, according to the RBPF press release published publicly on July 3.

The man was then identified in court as being Brigido Muñoz, a Mexican national and engineer aboard the ship, according to Our New Bahamas. Police said Muñoz had been placed in police custody, treated in a medical clinic and accused of murder on Wednesday, July 9 in the Nassau court of first instance. He was refused a deposit and should return to court on November 20, reported the point of sale.

“Tonight, mom and dad … fly towards the Bahamas to start the painful process of bringing not only their little girl home, but also to seek justice for the monster that took her life,” wrote his sister Chelsey in a public article shared on Facebook on Sunday.

In a separate family declaration, Bell’s relatives confirmed his identity and described his death as “brutal”.

“It is with a broken heart that we share the new devastating that the life of our beautiful Paigey was brutally removed,” said the family on July 4. “We will not leave any stone not returned until guilt is translated into justice.”

Harbor Island, where the yacht was moored at the time of the incident, is a small but exclusive destination about 60 miles east of Nassau, known to attract celebrities and superyachts.

Bell had previously worked on the Sweet Emocean engine yacht, where former committees described it as “more than a teammate – she was from the family”.

A gofundme page created by colleagues and friends has raised more than $ 42,000 To help the Bell family with travel costs and legal as well as recover their body. According to fundraising, Bell was 21 years old on July 14. In his honor, his mother asked the supporters to eat red velvet cake, Paige’s favorite and share a photo in memory.

The RBPF said that the murder investigation remains active and that the authorities have not published potential reason.
