Egypt stops the Italian dancer for “ corruption of public morality ” with videos

An Italian Dancer of the Egyptian origin was arrested in her native country to “use attractive techniques”, according to the media.

Sohila Tarek Hassan Haggag, an Italian naturalized citizen who was born in Egypt and holds Egyptian citizenship, was placed in police custody at Cairo International Airport on June 22. She is accused of corrupting public morality with her provocative dance, reported The Telegraph.

Sohila Tarek Hassan Haggag, who dances the belly under the name of Linda Martino, was arrested at Cairo airport in June.

The case against Haggag, who dances under the name of Linda Martino, was triggered by videos on her Instagram account, in which she twists in the clothes revealing and describes herself as “more than you can manage”.

It appeared “in indecent clothes, deliberately exposing the sensitive areas of the body, in flagrant violation of social values”, according to the investigators.

Cairo prosecutors said that it “used attractive techniques and provocative dances to encourage vice”.

During her arrest, she was found with a “substantial” amount, according to the report. The Italian Embassy in Cairo was looking for its release.

Haggag is supposed to stay in prison for at least two more weeks. She would have returned to Egypt several years ago, where she built her successful career. She was previously married to an Italian, according to the report.

In recent years, Egypt has repressed the activities deemed morally questionable. Five belly dancers were imprisoned under President Abdel Fattah Al-Sissi for accusations similar to those against Haggag, the Italian media reported.
