Vice-president JD Vance criticized the socialist candidate for New York town hall, Zohran Mamdani, during a speech during the weekend of July 4 for what he called the United States insulting the “most sacred day”.

“Today, it is on July 5, 2025, which means, as you all know, that yesterday we celebrated the 249th anniversary of the birth of our nation,” said Vance on a address before the dinner of the Prix for the Conservative Reflection Group Claremont Institute in San Diego on Saturday. “Now, the person who wishes to direct our largest city had, according to several media reports, has never mentioned publicly on the day of independence from America. But when he did this year, that is what he said, and that is a real quote.”

Vance then continued to read the publication of social media of the day of independence of Mamdani, which said in part: “America is beautiful, contradictory, unfinished. I am proud of our country, even if we are constantly striving to improve it.”

The vice-president, who has not avoided calling political leaders around the world to show gratitude in the United States since the day of the inauguration, pointed out that there was “no gratitude in these words” and “no sense to say something to this earth and to the people who transformed his desert into the most powerful nation of the earth”.

“I wonder, has he already read Boy Soldiers’ letters in the Union army to parents and lovers that they would never see?” Vance continued. “Has he already visited the serious site of a loved one who gave his life to build the kind of society where his family could escape racial flight and racial violence? He already looked in the mirror and has recognized that he might not be alive if he is not for the generosity of a country he dares to insult by his most sacred day?”

“Who devilly thinks he is?” Said Vance.

The Democratic Socialist Mamdani beat his best competitor, the former governor of New York Andrew Cuomo, during the polls in the Democratic primary in June, becoming the candidate of the party to the mayor. Mamdani’s victory is considered the Democratic Party, which moved more to the left in New York after the national voters sounded in the 2024 elections than the adoption of the party of certain leftist policies alienated the Americans.

Vance added in his San Diego speech that Mamdani, who was born in Uganda, and his family had known in the first hand the dictatorship of a foreign nation before finding a refuge in the United States, and yet the candidate for the town hall has always described America as incomplete and a contradiction.

“Zohran Mamdani’s father fled Uganda when the tyrant Idi Amin decided to ethnically clean the Indian population of his country,” said Vance. “Mamdani’s Family Fled Violent Racial Hatred, Only for Him to Come to this country – A Country Built by People he never Knew, Overflowing with generosity to his family, offering a Haven from the Kind of Violent Ethnic Conflict that is commonplace in World History, but it is not Commonplace here – and he dares on 249th Anniversary to congratulate it by paying homage to its incompleteness, ‘and to its, as he calls it,’ contradiction. ‘ “”

Mamdani’s campaign did not immediately respond to Fox News Digital’s comments on Vance’s remarks.
