The mayor of Los Angeles, Karen Bass, announced Tuesday that her city would join the collective appeal to stop what she says is “unconstitutional raids in the Los Angeles region”.
Bass said Los Angeles joined the trial because the Trump administration treats the city “as a test case for how far it can go to advance its political agenda while pushing the Constitution”.
“The city of Los Angeles, as well as the county, the cities, the organizations and the Angelenos of Los Angeles, carries the administration before the courts to stop its clear violation of the constitution of the United States and the Federal Act,” Bass said in a press release. “We will not be intimidated – we make Los Angeles the example of how people who believe in American values will be held together and will be united.”

The lawyer for the city of Los Angeles, Hydee Feldstein Soto, said that the trial is intended to send a message to the Trump administration that the city will not allow raids to become “standard operational procedure”.
“The federal government has concentrated thousands of armed immigration agents, many of whom lack visible identification and military troops in our communities, making unconstitutional raids, roundups and anonymous detention, sowing fear and chaos among our residents,” said the city of Los Angeles, Hydee Feldstein Soto. “Today’s motion to intervene shows that we will not stay and allow these raids to continue or become the standard operational procedure in our communities.”
A coalition of individual immigrant and defense organizations of immigrants, led by the American Civil Liberties Union (ACLU) of California and the lawyer for non -profit, has filed the initial appeal “Vasquez Perceomo c. Noem”, “ Against the Ministry of Internal Security (DHS) requiring an immediate stop of what he describes as illegal immigration raids in the Los Angeles region targeting migrants to the “brown skin”.

The non -profit organization has accused immigration and customs’ application (ICE) of performing unconstitutional raids, then keep migrants in inhuman -free conditions and deprive food and legal advice. Homeland Security denied all the allegations of the trial, saying that any accusation of racial profiling is “disgusting and categorically false”.

The trial also requests from those who are now held in overcrowded installations of “dungeon” to access advice, especially when the conditions are deplorable and unconstitutional.
The announcement comes on federal agents who cross the Los Angeles MacArthur Park and militarized vehicles deployed in the streets which, according to Bass, were filled with children who attended a summer camp.

The release of the Bass office suggested that the actions were for the “apparently unique goal to scare Los Angeles”.
