The Republicans of South Carolina say that they are ready to give the Democratic Governor of California Gavin Newsom “a huge welcome from the South” when he arrives in the main presidential state.
Newsom associates with the Democratic Party of South Carolina for two days of meetings with state voters who officially held the first primary of the 2024 Democrat calendar.
The journey of the governor in the long term limited with a large national profile is sure to arouse many speculations of 2028, because Newsom is considered a potential competitor for the next Democratic presidential appointment.
The Republicans of the State dominated by the GOP take note.

“Gavin Newsom brings his California crazy program to Trump Country. It is up to us to show him what the real leadership looks like,” said the South Carolina Gop in an email to supporters.
The email included Newsom’s route during its Tuesday-mer swing, which is full of stops in cafes, cafes, community centers and churches.

“The dates, times and locations are listed below,” said the South Carolina GOP. “Appear hard, proud and adorned with your Trump equipment and your flags.”
The president of the GOP state, Drew McKissic, in a separate declaration, argued that “Gavin Newsom should go and sell a crazy California elsewhere. He will not find many takers here.”
It was a similar message from the Southern Caroline Attorney General, Alan Wilson, who launched a republican campaign for the governor in 2026 earlier this year.
“We do not need the twisted version of Gavin Newsom of America in the Palmetto State,” Wilson said in a press release. “If Gavin Newsom wants to test his national message here, he will be met by a united conservative front who knows exactly what is at stake.”
The South Carolina Democratic Party, which announced Newsom’s trip last week, said it was part of their efforts to bring national democrats to certain parts of the palm that say they have long been neglected and “left” by republican officials.

“Governor Newsom directs the largest economy in America and the fourth in the world, and he comes to meet people in the cities that have been hollowed out by decades of republican control,” said the president of the State Party, Christal Spain, in a statement.
Newsom stopped in South Carolina in January of last year to campaign on behalf of the president of the time, Joe Biden, during the presidential primary in 2024 of the State. Newsom also visited Nevada, another state of early voting in the main party calendar.
And Newsom traveled last summer in the name of Biden to New Hampshire, the state that for a century held the first presidential primary of the nation.
The former President was the democrats’ hablestones in 2024 before abandoning the race last July following a disastrous debate performance against Donald Trump, the president now. Vice-president Kamala Harris replaced Biden at the top of the National Democratic ticket.
South Carolina, New Hampshire and Nevada are competing for the start position in the next presidential electoral cycle, and the National Democratic Committee should decide their 2028 calendar in early 2027.

It is believed that Newsom has long housed national ambitions and is considered one of the many Democrats who could present themselves to the presidential appointment in 2028 of the party.

The two -day swing through Southern Carolina will give Newsom the opportunity to establish links not only with voters, but also with the local party and elected officials. Relations made this week could possibly pay dividends on the road to Newsom if he finally decides to launch a presidential campaign in 2028.
