Israel exchanged missile fires with Houthi rebels supported by Iran in Yemen on Monday, targeting ports and other facilities in the group.

The initial strikes of Israel have been reacted to a suspected Houthi attack on a Liberian flag ship in the Red Sea. The ship was targeted with explosives and light weapons fire, which made it take water and force the crew to abandon the ship. The Houthis have not yet claimed the responsibility of the attack. The Israeli army issued a warning before its attack, which targeted the ports in Hodeida, Ras Isa and Salif.

“These ports are used by the terrorist regime Houthi to transfer weapons of the Iranian regime, which are used to carry out terrorist operations against the State of Israel and its allies,” said the Israeli army.

The Houthis responded in kind when Israeli missiles began to fall, but Israel has made no victim of the attack.

The Israeli attack also targeted the chief of the galaxy, a ship seized by the Houthis in 2023. The FDI said that the ship had been “equipped with a radar system to follow international ships for terrorist operations”.

The Israeli Minister of Defense Israel Katz has threatened new strikes if the assault of the Houthi continues in the Red Sea or elsewhere.

“What is true for Iran is true for Yemen,” Katz said in a press release. “Whoever heats up against Israel will be cut. The Houthis will continue to pay a high price for his shares.”

Meanwhile, the military spokesman for Houthi Brig. General Yahya Saree said that the group is “fully prepared for a sustained and prolonged confrontation” and plans to maintain its “naval blockade”.
