The 1,000 -year -old Viking Treasury is discovered in northern Germany

Archaeologists recently found a treasure of early medieval treasures on the banks of an entry into northern Germany, all thanks to a metal detector.

The Schleswig-Holstein’s archeology department (ALSH) announced the discovery in a press release in late May.

The treasure, dating back to around 1,000 years, was found on the banks of the Schlei, an entry into a Baltic Sea. The officials said that the region was near “the once significant business post in the Haithabu Viking era”.

The treasure was originally reported by a metal detector named Arjen Spiesswinkel, who reported his discoveries to the ALSH.

“A targeted follow -up search with additional detector has helped reduce the location of the discovery,” ALSH said in a statement.

“Subsequently, a systematic excavation of the ALSH, as well as voluntary aid, recovered the objects.”

The images show that volunteers focused on the ground in search of the treasure treasure, which consisted of more than 200 artefacts.

“In this case, the treasure includes around 200 objects, mainly in money, hacksilver, fragments of Arab parts (dirhams), bar parts and jewelry,” noted the declaration.

ALSH has also noted that treasury finds are generally made up of “buried or submerged objects that were hidden to protect them from others, either arranged as offerings”.

A ceramic fragment and assistance stone have also been found on the site, which, according to managers, may be “possible indications of a previously unknown regulation”.

The Viking age lasted approximately 800 after JC at 1050 AD, which means that the treasure dates back to the last part of the time.
