Miley Cyrus played for some of the most public people in the world – but for years, she has quietly fought on the scene scene scenes.

In a recent interview, the POP icon revealed that therapy called EMDR played a decisive role in reducing its anxiety.

“I love it. I saved my life,” she told New York Times in May. “I have never been afraid of the scene again.” Never. “

In another recent interview with Vogue, Cyrus said that EMDR wanted to watch a film in his mind – living and emotional, but founded.

Cyrus is not the only public character to try Emdr. Prince Harry shared in interviews that he uses therapy to deal with painful memories linked to the death of his mother.

What is EMDR?

EMDR – or desensitization and reprocessing eye movements – is an alternative therapy designed to help people treat unresolved trauma and emotional pain.

“This is a powerful method based on research that helps people cure painful or painful experiences that have become” stuck “in the brain,” said Dr. Kate Campbell, an approved marriage and family therapist and founder of Bayview Therapy in Ft. Lauderdale, Florida, told Fox News Digital.

Edmr “helps people to cure painful or painful experiences that have become” stuck “in the brain”.

“EMDR uses bilateral stimulation, often through eye movements, tapping or sound, to help the brain retreat these overwhelming memories,” added Campbell, who heads a team of EMDR professionals.

It has developed: “At the neurological level, EMDR helps to move memory to be stored in the emotional part of the brain (the amygdal) with the more logical and rational part (the prefrontal cortex).”

Once this change is, according to Campbell, people are often able to think of experience without feeling outdated.

“The emotional intensity and the negative beliefs linked to it begin to fade,” she said.

The objective is not to forget the experience, noted Campbell, but to help the brain “understand it, integrate and release it, so that people can go ahead with more clarity, confidence and peace”.

“By revisiting the old fears in a safe and controlled setting and in repayments by bilateral stimulation, the brain can move these memories of a place of distress increased to emotional neutrality.”

Transform panic into power

The deep cause of performance anxiety often comes from previous negative experiences – as an embarrassing childhood moment, the fear of judgment or pressure to be perfect – which “locks” in the nervous system, according to Campbell.

“Over time, these feelings can turn into anxiety that appears in high pressure moments, such as being on stage or speaking in public.”

EMDR is particularly effective for performance anxiety because it addresses the underlying causes, not only for symptoms, noted the expert.

Therapy aims to replace memories and negative beliefs with favorable and stimulating memories, Campbell said.

“Many people note that their bodies feel more relaxed and that their thoughts become clearer and quieter after a few sessions,” she noted. “This change can open the door to greater confidence, presence and peace in performance circles.”

Campbell applauded the opening of Cyrus about EMDR therapy.

“This helps reduce the stigma of mental health and emphasizes how EMDR is not only for those who suffer from a deep trauma or a full-fledged post-traumatic stress disorder (SSPT),” she said.

Cyrus’ experience underlines that healing through therapy does not have to take years, said Campbell.

“With the good support of professional mental health experts, people can overcome deeply rooted fears and make room for resilience, clarity and peace.”
