First on Fox: The State Department has changed its criteria for hiring and promoting external service agents in order to eliminate any consideration of diversity, equity and inclusion (DEI).
Before now, the second of the five basic precepts used in hiring and the promotion of the State Department has emphasized the promotion of Dei, according to documents obtained by Fox News Digital. This precept has now been replaced by that focused on “loyalty”.
A senior State Department official said that it was “incredible” that loyalty was not already part of the promotion criteria.
“This is a good sense and a necessary change. US external services agents represent America abroad and should be judged on their ability to represent and represent and defend our country abroad faithfully and conscientiously our country.”

The previous job guide for the ministry for 2022-2025 forced external service employees to “demonstrate an impact on diversity, equity, inclusion and accessibility”, according to internal documents.
Entry -level candidates had to proactively seek to “improve your own self -awareness with regard to promoting inclusiveness”. Intermediate and senior level supervisors were invited to recruit and retain various teams, immediately respond to non -inclusive workplace behavior and “consult the affected staff before finalizing decisions”.

Under the new policy, agents of the external service of intermediate and higher level must demonstrate loyalty by “zealing the policy of the American government” and “resolve uncertainty on the side of loyalty to its chain of command”.

The State Department has also fixed the test of external service agents (FSOT) – generally administered three times a year – while it goes to restructuring and potentially reduction of its workforce. In May, the ministry submitted a plan to the congress describing a 15% reduction in 19,000 employees and the consolidation of more than 300 agency offices and offices.
Although an order of the court temporarily interrupted mass dismissals in federal agencies, a recent decision of the Supreme Court determined that national injunctions issued by the courts of federal district “probably exceed the equitable authority that the Congress has granted”.
