The prolonged voting period came when the president of the Mike Johnson room, R-La., Argued with members of the Conservative House Freedom Caucus. They rejected the version of the Senate of the Megabill on its increased increase in the federal deficit, as well as what they deemed insufficient Medicaid reforms and expense reductions. “Some of them wanted to speak to some of the different agencies, you know, how they plan to implement it, which agency leaders have obviously predicted for months on these changes,” said Scalise. “So, they go through these things and it was useful to members just to at least have a good idea of what to expect once the bill will become the law. Of course, none of this occurs if the bill does not become a law. So the emphasis has always been, get this bill.”
