The VOA may be Doa.

It is at least the interpretation of Lake Kari.

Lake ran without success for the governor of Arizona in 2022. She ran to the Senate in 2024 and lost.

President Trump therefore appointed Lake to lead the American agency for the world’s media.

Kari Lake declares the American agency for the world media “Rotten to the Core”, established a stopping goal in 2026: “a boondoggy”

The worst thing in the broadcasting is Dead Air. And that is perhaps the goal of Lake – a former presenter of the Arizona TV News.

“It’s really like a piece of rotten fish,” said the lake before a recent audience of the Chamber’s Foreign Affairs Committee. “And it is better to simply remove everything and start again.”

It plans to modify the influence of VOA and other government media such as Radio Free Europe / Radio Liberty, the Office of Cuba Broadcasting, Radio Free Asia and the distribution networks of the Middle East.

“We have to modernize. I don’t think that doing television from the 1990s is more effective,” said Lake.

The hearing has marked the first time that Lake testified before the legislators since President Trump tapped him for the position. She told legislators that Chinese spies had infiltrated the Mandarin service of the VOA. And Russian stimulators have almost made the Radio Free Europe.

“It is not the voice of America. It is the voice of American enemies,” said representative Andy Barr, R-Ky.

Democrats say that the reduction of VOA silenced the United States to transmit news and truthful information on enemy territory.

Representative Brad Sherman, D-Calif., Has been apoplectic in terms of the Trump administration to cancel many radio and television programs from government abroad.

“My God. It is the worst and most stupid that we could do in foreign affairs,” smoked Sherman. “It is our soft power. It is our effort to bring freedom of information and, hope, democracy worldwide. This is how we explain ourselves in dozens of different languages. And for them to empty it? In terms of our influence in the world, the voice of America and its sister diffusers are more important than a aircraft carrier.”

Sherman reiterated his concerns about the reduction of soft power at the hearing, adding that changes to the VOA range can appeal to a special audience abroad.

“I think Putin would be very happy,” said Sherman about the Russian chief. “The bombs are powerful. The truth is more powerful.”

But it is not only the Democrats who are worried about static on government waves.

The representative Young Kim, R-Calif., Says that Radio Free Asia gives way to power in China and North Korea.

“We have abandoned journalists who have spent decades to build their credibility and their confidence with our audience,” said Kim. “Without reporting outside people to VOA and (Free Asia Radio), most North Korean civilians see only the United States as the villain.”

Kim feared that the United States could “win in the field of information”.

Lake recently retained 639 world media employees. She says her orders come from the summit.

Representative Gregory Meeks, DN.Y., the best democrat of the Foreign Affairs Committee, asked what type of “revision” she made to store VOA and other services.

“What we have examined is a decree on March 14 by the man who is in charge of the executive branch. The name HS is Donald Trump,” said Lake.

The Court of Appeal supports Voa’s overhaul, Kari Lake said, “Modernize” the agency: “ Huge victory for President Trump ” ‘

She then organized a photo of the president and showed her to the legislators in front of her on the platform.

Democrats argue that this is exactly the problem because the president and the lake try to rethink the broadcasters of the American government.

“I see why Mr. Trump put you in this position. He does not want a free press,” scolded the representative Madeleine Dean, D-Penn. “You are a propaganda machine for the Trump administration.”

Democrats have stacked.

“I am also concerned about your ability to promote American democracy given your supporter support dictators,” said representative Pramila Jayapal, D-Wash.

Other Democrats have underlined the controversial political history of Lake and how it questioned the results of the two races.

“You were sanctioned twice for providing false information to the courts. Isn’t it true? Yes or no?” Asked the representative Greg Stanton, D-Ariz., The former mayor of Phoenix.

“I was courageous enough to fight against our poor quality elections. And the courts did not make up for the delay,” retaliated.

“The American people cannot believe a word you say,” said Stanton. “You have lost, just and square. Instead of conceding, you got embarrassed, you got embarrassed, you and our state, by mensing again and again for years, blaming everything under the sun for your loss, except your own toxic policy. You lie about this election to date.”

After Lake’s double political losses, Stanton had a lake request.

“Do you want to make us a favor and make it work and run again?” He asked.

Representative Bill Huizenga

Lake met more friendly questions from representative Bill Huizenga, R-Mich. He asked questions about the potential messages that the global media could disseminate worldwide.

“What do you think that some of the most important stories and tenants on America must be told who have not been told?” asked Huizenga.

“I think that just the history of this country and what this country is. Our freedoms. Our freedoms. Our rights charter,” said Lake.

“Maybe the foundation of our country?” Suggested Huizenga.

“The foundation of our country and especially this year with 250 years,” replied Lake, noting that on July 4, 2025, is the semi-car center of the United States

“It would seem to me a fairly big story to tell,” added Huizenga.

A big and beautiful weekend on the hill: “Everyone is still having fun?”

The congress ordered the VOA during the Cold War to pass the news behind the iron curtain. But today, the Republicans question its necessity. Especially when people are now getting news from their phone.

“Goddangit, it is not very effective,” said representative Tim Buchett, R-Tenn.

“It’s a relic,” said the lake.

“Yes, madam. It is a relic of the Cold War,” said Burchett.

VOA has dismissed dozens of staff members in his Persian division. But restored programming as tensions have been raised between Iran and Israel – culminating in recent American air strikes. But the Persian service of the VOA used to broadcast 24 hours a day, seven days a week. Even if VOA has strengthened certain reports in the middle of the crisis, it was a work fraction that the organization was doing.

“From my understanding, Operation VOA has almost disappeared,” said Kim at the hearing.

“No. It’s not gone. We do what is legally required,” replied Lake. “The statutory minimum.”

This means that VOA and other services are just a ball. The congress will prepare draft spending law for the entire federal government over the next three months. What legislators decide to do with the financing of the VOA and the world media will announce the future of organizations. And if the microphones are permanently hooked.
