7 screen book adaptations in that you need to know

This is May, which means that we have a whole new month of new adaptations of the screen to excite us. Whether you are ready to go to a movie theater and buy a large expensive (but tasty) bathtub of popcorn, or if you have a more Netflix and Chill atmosphere this month, there are adaptations for which you want to connect. We are talking about new seasons of some of your favorite television programs, follow-up of cult favorites, new horror, new thrillers, new science fiction sciences, etc. Let’s go!
Another simple favor (Prime, May 1)
A simple favor,, The adaptation of the novel of the same name of Darcey Bell, returned Waaaaay in 2018. It was a simpler period, isn’t it? But now Blake Lively and Anna Kendrick are back to play Another simple favor. Apparently, the film will take place on the island of Capri, Italy, where a murder will take place during the (lively) wedding of Emily. Henry Golding, Andrew Runnels, Bashir Salahuddin and Joshua Satine. Ian Ho. Paul Feig also returns directly.
The Walking Dead: Dead City (AMC, May 4)
This Traveling The Spin -Off series – based on the Maggie and Negan characters – returns for a second season this month! Lauren Cohan plays Maggie, traveling with Negan (Jeffrey Dean Morgan) through a post-apocalyptic city in New York in search of her son, Hershel (Logan Kim), who was kidnapped. Season 2 will be presented on AMC on May 4, with later episodes that are published every week until June 22.


Clown in a cornfield (Theatrical release, May 9)
Adam Cesare Clown in a cornfield Is a horror novel Ya which was everywhere in Booktok in 2020, and now it’s a brand new Slasher film! Katie Douglas (Ginny and Georgia) plays the role of Quinn Maybrook, a teenager terrorized by a killer clown named Frendo. Clown in a cornfield is directed by Eli Craig, who also produced the classic cult horror film Tucker & Dale against Evil. The film will be released in theaters and shiver on May 9.


Murder (Apple TV +, May 16)
Apple TV + publishes this series of action / science fiction comedy based on Series of murder newspapers by Martha Wells. Alexander Skarsgård plays the Holder Murderbot, a safe-human boot that is capable of having free thought and is intrigued and dismayed by human emotion / fragility. Also featuring: David Dastmalchian as a Gurathin, Noma Dumezweni like Mensah, Sabrina Wu Pin-Lee, Tattiawna Jones like Arada, Akshay Khanna like Ratthi and Tamara Podemski like Bharadwaj. The first two episodes were released on Friday May 16.

Nine perfect foreigners (Hulu, May 21)
Let us bring White lotus vibes Nine perfect foreigners? Yeah, a little! The first season was based on the novel of the same name of Liane Moriarty. In the original history, the coach of well-being Masha (Nicole Kidman) led nine guests to her retirement thanks to a controversial wellness regime. This season sees Masha returning to the Austrian Alps with a brand new set of guests, including Henry Golding, Christine Baranski, Murray Bartlett (yes, The white lotus), Annie Murphy, King Princess, and more! The first two episodes come across Hulu on May 21.
Street Fear: Ball queen (Netflix, May 23)
The next chapter of the Netflix Fear Street Film series is based on RL Stine’s novel The Ball Queen. In 1988, the students of Shadyside High School were desperate to win the title of Prom Queen. Then some of them disappear. Is anyone desperate enough to murder? What happens to these teenagers? The film is directed by Matt Palmer and Stars India Fowler, Suzanna Son, Finzza, David Iacono, Ella Rubin, Chris Klein, Lili Taylor and Katherine Waterston.


The best sister (Prime, May 29)
Thriller limited series are all the rage, and The best sisterBased on the novel by Alafair Burke, it will be a world that everyone will speak this month. Jessica Biel and Elizabeth Banks play Chloé and Nicky, two sisters who do not get along but who are forced together after one of their husbands is murdered. You can consult a preview of the next series Charm. The eight episodes will fall on Amazon Prime on May 29.
We always hope for more adaptations of works by Color authors in the coming months. For the moment, let’s continue to read books that tell stories of different backgrounds. Hopefully Hollywood will begin to recognize the wide range of votes in the world of books.
