11 Alzheimer’s prevention tips before symptoms appear as suggested by Dr Amen

Research developments in Alzheimer’s disease, including newly approved blood tests for early detection, helped patients diagnose earlier.

With dementia increasing in younger people, projectors are on the means to prevent or slow down the disease.

Dr. Daniel Amen, psychiatrist, cerebral imaging doctor and founder of Amen Clinicals in California, spoke with Fox News Digital in an interview on the risk and management of Alzheimer. (See the video at the top of this article.)

“Alzheimer’s disease begins in your brain of decades before having symptoms,” he said. “So, a 59 -year -old woman whom I diagnosed with Alzheimer’s disease probably had negative changes in her brain in their twenties.”

He added: “It is never too early to think about protecting your brain and your mind.”

Amen, author of the book “Change Your Brain Every Day”, confirmed that half of Alzheimer’s cases are avoidable, according to recent conclusions.

This can be done by nourishing brain health and treating the 11 main risk factors that “fly your mind,” he said.

“It is never really too early to think about protecting your brain and your mind.”

To remember the factors that can help to ward off Alzheimer, Amen has created the acronym “Brightminds” as follows.

B – Blood flow

Low blood flow is predictor No. 1 of the brain imaging of Alzheimer’s disease, according to the doctor.

Alcohol, marijuana, caffeine, nicotine, sedentary behavior and excess weight or obesity can all decrease blood circulation, therefore avoid.

To promote blood circulation, Amen suggests “walking as if you are late”, which could involve walking 30 minutes a day – alternating between three minutes of normal walking and three minutes of fast walking.

“Do this for five times for 30 minutes, and it increases blood flow to your brain,” he said.

R – Retirement and aging

In addition to retirement and aging can withstand learning and cognitive activity, leading to a higher risk of Alzheimer, said Amen.

He encourages retirees to learn something new every day to keep the brain active and healthy.

I – Inflammation

The doctor said everyone should take action to find out what diseases take place in the family, then follow a daily prevention program.

“I have heart disease and obesity in my family,” he said. “I have no heart disease and I am not overweight. Why? Because I am on a program to prevent cardiac diseases of obesity every day of my life.”

H – head trauma

Concreases and head trauma are a “major cause” of psychiatric problems, amen described, and must be avoided.

“Do not text and do not drive,” he warned.

T – toxins

Certain well -known toxins such as alcohol, marijuana and other drugs are known to have negative impacts on overall health.

But some toxins that are not so obvious may include lead, mold, mercury of fish and even general anesthesia.

“You always want to support your detoxification organs,” he said. “Drink more water, because it helps to empty things through your kidneys … Eat more fibers for your gut and keep alcohol.”

Amen also suggested eating brassicas, which include vegetables in the cabbage family because they have a detoxifying effect.

The expert also highlighted the advantages of the use of the sauna as a detoxification tool.

“People who take the most saunas have the lowest incidence of Alzheimer’s disease,” he said.

M – mental health

A healthy mental state will help support a healthier brain, experts agree.

“Stop believing all the stupid things you think,” advised Amen.

I – Immunity and infections

Keeping your body healthy and out of infections is the key to overall health, according to Amen.

The doctor suggested optimizing vitamin D intake, which can help support the brain and the immune system.

N – Neurohormones

The brain specialist recommends having a hormonal balance control carried out each year, as all imbalances can interfere with the brain and increase the risk of Alzheimer.

D – Diabessity

“Diabessity”, a term referring to the parallel occurrence of obesity and type 2 diabetes, can be a major threat to global health, warned the doctor.

“You really want to worry about your weight,” said Amen.

Weight and diet play an important role in brain health, as Amen searches have shown that weight increases, size and brain function decrease.

“The genes are not a death sentence. What they should be is alarm.”

“Overweight, you automatically have 10 of the 11 risk factors, because overweight lowers blood circulation, accelerates aging, increases inflammation and changes your hormones in a negative way,” he said.

“Be attentive to love the food that loves you in return.”

S – Sleeping

Sleep is crucial for a high -level spirit, while the adequate sleep of the night “lava” the brain every night, noted Amen.

Better sleep results in an improvement in memory, energy, blood flow and decision -making, said the doctor, and should be a priority when you work to prevent Alzheimer’s disease.
